The core “war mottos” (stripped down): of the Albanese government.

We don’t want war – we’re forced into it

The enemy started it

The enemy leader is evil/incarnate

We’re fighting for a noble cause, not self-interest

The enemy commits atrocities on purpose; we don’t

The enemy uses illegal or immoral weapons

Our losses are small; theirs are huge

Intellectuals/artists support our cause

Our cause is sacred (often framed morally or spiritually)

Anyone who questions this is a traitor

Love your description of endstage capitalism Joel: decades of polyshambolic omnicrises so we are now in the fascistic phase as Trump doesn't even hide the wanton destruction of innocent civilians a la Gaza and now Iran for no apparent stated reason except he can.

Not that the sea of workers in Australia are not intellectuals or artists, in my travels I have always found it is the most hard working and humble characters I have met that have provided me with the most inspirational ideas, unorthodox points of view, visionary creative approaches and truly challenging insight into our natural world and civilisation, nothing abstract or lofty, only pragmatism and genuine know how borne out of doing. I mention this only because I am so very offended by the new era of “managerial” Labor in this country, and I believe I am not alone, and there are millions of working Australians across the country that want something more than the unnaturally “straighty-180” centre-right crowd who have inhabited the bodies of Labor politicians many voters devotedly supported (they were our only hope…) through the endlessly dreadful and stifling Howard years, the bungled unity litmus test of the Rudd/Gillard/Rudd years (Gillard has been the Labor high water mark in terms of competency and vision), and the toxically polarising and hopelessly inept and corrupt Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison years, only to now get nothing in return. Look out Labor, there is a rising new generation of young Australian voters looking out for a political vehicle to match their own progressive ideals and healthy commitment to not only a better and fairer world, but a world in which the inverse of what we seemingly must endure today is the model that one day very soon, ready or not, will ultimately save us here in Australia, and naturally position us into a more positive organically regional relationships built on trust, transparency and accountability, and in our very own neighbourhood, here between the vast southern Pacific and the Indian oceans, decoupled from our nowadays fabricated and hopelessly more toxic legacy relationships in tired traumatic Europe and angrily fermented North America. New “managerial” Labor in Australia does not have the vision to deliver this as they spend all of their electoral capital trying to be something they are not for an electorate that never asked them to do so. The constraints on Labor governments post Keating are purely confected and were constructed through an amalgam between media and business in this country, and are certainly not what I voted for. Cheers!

Thank you Joel for this analysis.

Indeed, while metro populations may have fuel going forward, cold comfort for those in rural and regional areas where there is only one service station for many kilometres.

Albanese being the first to endorse the Epstein Coalition’s illegal attack, now that the sovereign state of Iran has not collapsed against indiscriminate bombings and massacres, wants to pretend his support did not lead to the high fuel prices we now have. The man from Marrickville now tells you to maybe take public transport.

If only Albanese were in a position to have committed funds for the creation of a robust public transportation and rail! Maybe NSW will get the benefit of the pipe dream high speed rail between Sydney and Newcastle in 10 years. Meanwhile we need bus rapid transit and electric buses and faster regional rail today.

THIS !! 💯💯💯, thank you John 🙏 . Multi billions of dollars given away to America for the charade of AUKUS , which could

more intelligently provide the necessary level of public transport ( even fast rail services between major cities ? ) , homes for the homeless , and first class public education throughout the nation . But no . What a betrayal of the Australian people ! 😡😡😡

I fully agree Elizabeth. The wrong priorities from a Government not up to the task at hand.

Magnificently well said , and correct in every detail . The shameless , soulless , spineless attitude consistently taken by Albanese , Wong , and Marles since they assumed office is an utter disgrace . At the time when this country is in dire need of

of strength and decisiveness all we have had has been “non lethal aircraft parts” for planes bombing Gaza /Palestine ,

banal hollow platitudes , and eagerness to support America and Israel in their war mongering . Gough Whitlam would be spinning in his grave at this withering absence of leadership. I have nothing but contempt for this excuse for a government .
