Dreyfus (who is unfit to be Attorney General after his triple failures on whistleblower Daniel McBride, appointment of the now-compromised Brereton to the NACC, and deportation of an Australian citizen to the USA) shows himself willing to shill for the interests of a foreign state as opposed to Australians. He is not the foreign minister and has no mandate to represent Australia in diplomatic ventures. Such overinflated self righteousness and importance.
As a KC, he should know the implications of doing business with individuals wanted for crimes against humanity. The hypocrisy stinks. A very unimpressive ALP minister.
Magnificently well written demolition of both the Labor govt and LNP Opposition morally bankrupt stance on the Zionist genocide occurring in Palestine . The spineless cowardice of the Albanese govt in refusing to condemn the joyous slaughter of children , journalists, any living Palestinian within sight of snipers , doctors, academics can never be forgotten , OR forgiven . That a Zionist AG is sent to Israel to enforce Australia’s support is beyond appalling. Australia’s politicians seem all too keen to be seen as complicit in genocide . The Australian people , on the other hand , are apoplectic about this obeisance to a Terrorist State.
Thank you again Joel for putting our rage into fighting words. That Dreyfus would do this is inexplicable, but then again it's not because it's in keeping with the Albanese govt's shocking record of complicity in the genocide of Palestinian people. And why has there been no reporting on the investigation into the Melbourne synagogue fire? Is it possibly neo-nazis? Is it being left open so zionists can blame opponents of its assault on Gaza? Just disgusted!
The alp was finished a long time ago. It can only ever limp into govt when its rival looks so ridiculous (Abbott, Morrison…) that even normal conservative suburban Australians are disgusted and a small percentage tick a different box. It then pursues the same policies as the lnp until the small percentage tick the other box.
Ideologically, the power brokers in the alp are committed to two things:continuing to abide by the neoliberal principles that have destroyed the idea of a pluralistic ‘social democratic’ state; total, absolute subservience to the US military state.
Anyone who does not agree to these two guiding premises will have zero chance of preselection, less than zero chance of leadership. The alp does not and cannot ‘change from within.’ Much of its success is due to its internal discipline. If you want to rise in the alp you will have to toe this line . It is mandatory.
Since Hawke, the alp mandarins have accepted that the historic role of the party in the modern age is to prevent a well organised, funded and disciplined alternative to the neoliberal economic paradigm and, particularly, to quash any opposition to our strategic role in the American empire’s war plans.
The only way forward for a popular front against the two tyrranies that entrench power in the hands of the US subservient oligarchy, is to totally abandon political and cultural ties to the alp. To destroy it and rebuild.
Nostalgia, class inertia and stupidity prevent those in intellectually trained sector from taking this crucial step. People who think of themselves as ‘left’ do not generally have the courage to take the radical path which is needed. It requires sacrifice and commitment.
It’s easier to keep the well paying job, to grumble , to point out that the other major party is slightly worse , to adorn one’s social profile with self-congratulatory identity politics choices and then hand out how-to-vote cards for the disgraceful quislings who got preselection.
No actual politics is possible without the replacement of this moribund club for ignorant, self-important, bourgeois management drones.
Well said, couldn't agree more. I've spent the last few months arguing with exactly the Western liberal "left" you describe on Greens forums. They savage the working class, whom they see as beneath them, not realizing they need to persuade the broad base of the electorate to enable the kind of paradigm shift required to enact their economic and environmental policies. Have you heard of the Citizen's Party? They have some good policies.
One hundred years ago the Zionists plan was put in place by using a convicted criminal convert to rewrite parts of the bible to make it appear that the Jewish homeland was part of Palestine. Then that revised bible was given to new Pastors, mainly in America who then perpetuated the lie. At the same time hundreds of Zionists rushed to Palestine to establish their plan, none of whom were in any way involved in the Haulocost they keep using to make themselves victims we need to feel sorry for.
Too many in high places are Zionists, also part of the paragraph plan,in order to influence opinions regarding the murders in Gaza, which is now furthered in the West Bank.
So it is all the more appaling and unconconsionable that Australia would bend the knee to a stolen country of murderers.
Genuine Jews live peacefully in Southern Russia, not trying to take over their neighbouts' land, nor contain them in a cage sniping at their children.
Albanese has been a disappointment as PM, obviously a job too big for our him, now he bends the knee to a pariah state, filled with liars and abusers of others' freedom to live in their own country, living in starvation, wth ucsl aid being stopped from entering and those that do get permission to enter are shot at and killed.
If Albanese, and any Israeli Jews who believe in God should expect a severe punishment after death because of all of God's laws they have broken.
Wouldn't it be amazing if this Government investigated dual nationals accused of war crimes? Cancel their Australian passports, deport them. Chile and Brazil have the courage to stand up for what is right. Our country has completely lost the right to lecture any other on the rule of law. We have been sorely let down by this government and the political class more broadly.
Thank you for expressing everything I have been seeing and feeling. At least we know that ordinary humans still know right from wrong.
It’s a hell of a thing watching the Australian Government buckle and scrape to soothe the feelings of a regime quite fairly accused of apartheid and war crimes.
This isn’t diplomacy; it’s cowardice. Mark Dreyfus can’t wring his hands about antisemitism while sidestepping Israel’s crimes in Gaza. And Penny Wong can’t talk about peace and security while we send weapons to the IDF, turning Gaza into an open-air graveyard.
This is moral failure dressed up as foreign policy. A government too scared of upsetting the powerful, too comfortable ignoring the powerless. If mending ties with Israel means turning a blind eye to genocide, then we’re not just spineless. We’re complicit.
Elect Peter Dutton and see how Palestinian rights the Government he leads do ? I think Netanyahu is a war criminal but there is a not a lot Australia can do to change his behavior. We are not a regional power in the Middle East. I do agree Australia needs to recognise Palestine. I don’t think this is a difficult decision. The PA would be the relevant body to recognize.
Excellent analysis.

The increasing power of the Zionist lobby is truly terrifying.

absolutely, 🇵🇸 🕊️, & vote decent independents where possible.
Enabler of terrorism. He should be barred from the country and have his passport revoked.

A fine, articulate, denunciation of the outrageous abandonment of the Palestinian's by Labor & the LNP.
There is no changing what history will show about this.
What a legacy for anyone in parliament today who has not spoken up.
Dreyfuss is a dangerous, destructive devil.

The PA is a pawn of Israel, they are currently attacking Palestinians in the West Bank.
Australia is in charge of the naval operation in the Red Sea to deter Ansarallah from its resistance to the genocide.
Research PA first.
