Good essay. It must be apparent to anyone under forty that australian politics is not a contest between two sides. They are the same side and they are a class. And that class has to be destroyed if young people , other than offspring of the existing rich, are to have a viable future, other than as cannon fodder in an American sacrificial peripheral army. The lnp promotes straight up fascists, we know that. The alp leadership and its flunkey lickspittle apparatus are somewhat worse in that they knowingly smooth the way for the coming dystopia while preventing the possibility of any effective opposition to it.
In the future these traitors can do time picking fruit and living in basic huts with basic facilities. They have no intellectual abilities other than a talent for elaborate deceit and personal opportunistic advancement. Their class is entirely useless. They truly are history’s deadweight and their treachery must be fully exposed.
Great work Joel. The government doesn’t care about the kids being torn apart in Palestine so I take his current idea with a grain of salt. Far more inclined to think it’s about collecting information about who uses social media and limiting information .
Good on you Joel. As a recently retired high school teacher I find the idea offensive and discriminatory. It is a classic moral panic response from the narrow minded conformists who make up our political class. Albanese and Dutton are doing a Cheech and Chong routine. Ignorance, confusion and incompetence rule the day.
Albanese is so scared of Dutton's reach that he's cobbled together an authoritarian wet dream, in the hope of achieving something with bipartisan support. What a waste of time.
Thank you Joel for introducing some sanity into this debate. What a pity the Albanese Government doesn't spend as much time on narrowing the gap between the haves and the have nots as it does on distractions. Sooo frustrating.
You hit the nail on the head there, mate. This "won't somebody think of the children" schtick is just another cover for information control.
Civilisations collapse when they reach the limits imposed by physics, and their parasitic ruling class refuses to take a haircut. Fundamental changes are needed, but they censor the people from discussing those, just so they can prolong their fantasy of exponential power accumulation for another few years. They don't give a rat's arse about our kids' basic survival, let alone mental health.
We're watching world leaders bend the knee, and those who don't threatened with being summoned to the US to explain perceived and real anti trumpian policy and rhetoric. Trump is now fetted and bolstered entirely by Billionaires and media moguls like (but not limited to) Musk and Murdoch. I'm ecstatic that both Albanese and Dutton seem to have unwittingly locked themselves into a conflict with these multi billionaires who are poised to dictate global politics. I hope, once they realise the consequences of their collective action, they will rise to the occasion and not fall like a house of cards.
Thanks Joel. The ALP has become a 'vanishing party', disappearing right before our eyes. I will keep preferencing them above the LNP in the voting order, as I have for many years, and look forward to a diverse parliament with lots of independents after the next election.

Believe me, it's apparent to lots of people over forty too.
Mate, I’m over sixty. My generation is, by and large, selfish and stupid beyond comprehension.

Thanks Joel.
You help to keep me sane.
Please keep writing.
