The newly legislated Combating Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism Bill may have found one of its first examples; not in a violent extremist, but a larrikin welder from Sydney who likes fishing.
Two letters in the past two weeks or so to my federal representative who is the AG as it happens. Asking if I will be arrested for the true statements "Israel is committing genocide on Palestinians in Gaza" or "Thailand has committed genocide on the Rohinga". Nothing to report in the nebulous avoid answering response.
We are heading the same way as the UK arresting 80 year old grannies and ministers. Our first one happens to be a larrikan.
Thanks Joel for writing this. I gave up twitter but when I was on it Theo was supportive and kind when I told of how vandals, I’m assuming zionists, destroyed my ute. It had anti- genocide and Palestinian flags on the dashboard. No other cars in the street were touched. The cops didn’t want to know about it and there’s no way I can afford a lawyer.
This is what we’ve come to: Theo thrown in jail while our political grandees roll out the (appropriately) red carpet for the president of a fascist regime in the middle of a genocide…
Donated. Theo would do the same for any of us I’m sure. This sucks so badly.
Because obviously the offer of being shouted a beer would drive anyone to commit serious violence!
This offer is a much more serious offence, worthy of condemnation, than, say, an actual bomb being planted, or perhaps blowing up a few tens of thousands of innocent kids!
This arrest is evidence of a repressive state that is misdirecting its resources to squash criticism of Australian foreign and defence policy while looking away from real violence and welcoming war criminals.
I think a judge will throw this matter out and criticise police heavily.
I probably sound naive, but I'm gobsmacked that it's come to this in this country. If someone had told me this would happen even a few years ago I would have accused them of being a conspiracy theorist:(
And so the darkness continues to approach.

Quick explainer for activists
Thank you for making this public Joel. I wonder how or when or if mainstream media will report this? I hope we can find out about Theo's welfare soon.
Thank you Joel

Unbelievable. But -- terrifying -- not. Unconscionable. Thanks for focussing attention and laying out the evidence.
I and about a hundred thousand other Aussies need to go get our asses arrested under these new laws.
Guarantee he wouldn't have been arrested if he was pro-Israel/genocide
Israeli supporters can make overt death threats and get away with it.
We keep hearing about radical Islam being bad while radical zionism, a political ideology, NOT a religion, is carrying out a genocide as we speak.
That's creepy how we're only finding this out because of this article. It's terrifying.
So hate speech in Australia is now anything that criticises Israel, or offends zionists.
Remember Deir Yassin.

Am I living in Australia or Argentina? Why is this not worthy of mainstream media attention? Thank you Joel for bring it to light
Remanded in custody for an innocuous tweet….I smell lobbyists!
Thankyou.....Zionism is insidious. Needs to be called out.
