With the exception of the Greens every other politician in Australia stands condemned for their moral bankruptcy. The expressions Australian values and universal human rights have been stripped of meaning. Shame.
Well described, Joel. Boganitel.com will soon be written on public walls. I despise how the Genocide Troika (that's Albo, Wong, and Marles) pretend to care in front of cameras, then arm the genocidal regime, and lock in decades of AUKUS (allowing the US MIC to run our defence & foreign policy). The ALP were gifted a large political majority this election, and as usual they've wasted it, instead of working with The Greens (and others who support Palestine), they have done their usual sucking up to foreign imperialists (US and Israel). Their quality shall be well known on independent micro media, even if they have most major media cowering under the thumb of their Antizionism Commissar. Their Quisling legacy of complicity with genocidal Zionism and US imperialism shall be widely known and deplored, just like Genocide Joe's. Speaking of: AUKUS will FUKUS.
What a cracking analysis, Josh. I feel many people will be permanently changed. Israel’s criminal assaults on the Palestinian, Lebanese, Iranian, Yemenese, and Syrian communities (but especially the forced starvation of children in Gaza) has also perversely assaulted and changed on our cognition. I sense this deeply rooted in your writing too.
We who are changed will never again trust the major parties, never again ignore the disparities and forever more seek (through our words and deeds) a more compassionate, just and ecologically sustainable world.
Magnificently well said , both by yourself and Joel . If the agenda of Albanese , Wong , and Marles had been to trash any minute sign of trust in a politician for all time , they are succeeding 💯. Their second term appears to be a repeat of the cowardice , and fooling of the public who thought they were voting for a “Labor Party” , not once but TWICE.
Who else is in tears lately? I am. I don't know that I share your belief, Joel, that many Australians are horrified by this. The strong Labor vote suggests otherwise.
The pressure to stop this has to come from civil society and groups and agencies.
Where are the unions, churches, students (sorry to those students who are active) corporations even, all of whom should be raising hell.
Thanks, Joel. An important article and powerfully said. This complicity is eroding moral legitimacy—and with it, the social contract that holds our democracies together.
Omg. Thank you for putting into real words the nightmare inside my head.
But it is of no solace or help to the most wronged people on this earth.
I will hate forever any living soul who in the shlightest way supported the BUTCHERS OF ISRAEL in their diabolical acts of bastardry, murder, slaughter, criminality.
Having attended a number of Palestinian demos in Melbourne, the govt won't give a hoot so long as the political discourse amounts to one of shouting Free Palestine. If they started shouting about the control of govt by Vanguard, Black Rock, black mail and Murdoch, about BRICS, USUKA, financialisation, and Russia's right to defend itself, then the polticians will start to take notice. I say this as I've polled fellow protesters as to whether they have heard of Jeffrey Sachs, Alastair Crooke etc etc. Zilch wider political awareness (as of yet).
The cowardice and moral bankruptcy of PM Albanese , FM Wong ( who have been quoted as referring to Israel as “our valued friends” ) and all MPs of both major parties who refuse to condemn the Zionist genocidal barbarism in Palestine can never be forgiven or forgotten . That Albanese is content to use vacuous rhetoric , rather than sanctioning Israel or taking ANY ACTION in support of Palestinians is a disgrace to the position he holds . A position he demonstrates that he is grossly
unworthy to hold . This government shames our nation , humanity , and democracy itself . ALL to bow and scrape to the Israeli government which is joyously committing genocide.

But Joel, thank you again for your passionate, important writing. I wish there were so many more like you.

Thank you x
Thanks to you too, Amy!

Well said Joel, thank you.
Joel you write so beautifully. My god I wish this piece of blunt truth was force read to those in power, for where is the lie?

Please excuse my error here , in omitting Marles from this soulless troika. Unfit as leaders in any kind of democracy , all three.
